Redtone launches flexiCloud platform with Huawei

02 Mar Redtone launches flexiCloud platform with Huawei

Malaysian broadband services provider Redtone International has announced it has partnered with Huawei Technologies on cloud infrastructure services. According to REDtone managing director Datuk Wei Chuan Beng, Redtone and Huawei have co-invested MYR 50 million to MYR 100 million in the REDtone flexiCloud platform.

Wei said the launch of flexiCloud “was timely”, given the demand for such services. Around 100,000 to 200,000 local companies were subscribing to overseas cloud services worth about MYR 80 million annually, Wei added. FlexiCloud enables Malaysian companies to have their cloud services hosted locally rather than in neighboring countries.

FlexiCloud offers scalable services for businesses to align their IT infrastructure with their business strategy without significant capital expenditure. The managed value-added service is one of three of REDtone’s core businesses. Other offerings in this category are data service centres, healthcare services, and IoT tools.

Included in the flexiCloud services platform are flexiCompute, which offers enterprise-ready infrastructure to build, manage and control computing resources in a robust private cloud computing infrastructure; flexiBackup, which provides back-up and restoration of data and information; and flexiDR for disaster recovery.

Also part of the flexiCloud services are flexiPaaS, which offers platform as a service, and flexiSaas, which offers software as a service. For the rollout of flexiPaaS and flexiSaas, REDtone will partner with four software and services companies, namely Fusionex, Kingslake, Lambda Technologies, and Cloud Raxak. An agreement signing was signed between the REDtone Data Centre and its five partners on 1 March.
